Jonathan Calure, M.D.

Dr. Jonathan Calure is the Surgical Director and President of Maryland Vein Professionals founded in 2006. He holds two certifications by the American Board of Medical Specialties; he is Board Certified in General Surgery and he is Board Certified in Thoracic-Cardiovascular Surgery. Dr. Calure is trained in both classic open surgical technique, and is broadly trained in minimally invasive, video assisted and catheter based techniques. He is a national leader in the VNUS Closure Procedure with an experience of more than 5,000 cases as of July 2009.

A lifelong resident of Maryland, Dr. Calure has had the distinction of practicing Cardiac Surgery in the hospital of his birth, The Washington Adventist Hospital. Dr. Calure completed his undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering as a Chancellor's Scholar at The University of Maryland. While working part time as an engineer at The NASA Goddard Spaceflight Center, he earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Calure completed his General Surgery Residency as well as his Cardiac Surgery Fellowship at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore.

Dr. Calure is one of the first physicians in the Baltimore-Washington area to perform Radiofrequency ablation to treat saphenous vein reflux, known as the VNUS Closure® procedure. Dr. Calure currently performs 35-45 closure procedures per week and has one of the busiest practices devoted to vein care on the East Coast. He has performed over 2,000 major cases including open heart surgeries, vascular and general surgeries. Dr. Calure's practice, Maryland Vein Professionals, is a National Center of Excellence for the techniques of Vein Care, and he has trained other physicians in the latest techniques of Vein Care.

Dr. Calure is a member of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, The American Board of Thoracic Surgery, The American Board of Surgery and The Society of Thoracic Surgeons. Prior to opening his own Surgical Center, Dr. Calure held privileges at The Washington Adventist Hospital, Holy Cross, Suburban, George Washington University Hospital, and The Washington Hospital Center. In his spare time, Dr. Calure enjoys the outdoors, is an avid fan of the Orioles, Ravens, and Redskins, and is active in his Church. He resides in Ellicott City with his wife and three children.

Jane Lingelbach, M.D.

Dr. Lingelbach joined Maryland Vein Professionals in 2009. She has a range of expertise in all aspects of Vascular Surgery including classic open technique and minimally invasive procedures. Dr. Lingelbach has been serving the Washington D.C. region since 2002 as a Private Practice Vascular Surgeon based at the Washington Adventist Hospital.

After completing medical school at Washington University in St. Louis, she went on to complete General Surgery Residency at Harvard's Massachusetts General Hospital. She went on to complete her specialty training in Vascular Surgery, also at Harvard. Dr. Lingelbach has performed over 2000 major open vascular surgeries in addition to a broad array of minimally invasive catheter based and ultrasound guided procedure expertise. Dr. Lingelbach holds Board Certification both in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery. She lives in Rockville with her husband and son.



James Laredo, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. James Laredo serves as the Director of the Maryland Vein Professionals Vascular Lab. Dr. Laredo is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Georgetown University Medical Center and specializes in Vascular Surgery. His area of expertise is in both endovascular and open vascular surgery. He is board certified in both Surgery and Vascular Surgery. Dr. Laredo is one of only six physicians in all of Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia, to be credentialed as both a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) and Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).

Dr. Laredo earned both his PhD in Physiology and MD degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery training in Boston at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School and vascular surgery fellowship at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Laredo is a member of numerous medical and surgical societies including the Society for Vascular Surgery, the American Venous Forum and the American College of Surgeons. He continues to be active in both clinical and translational research and was recently awarded the Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society Academic Award for research in 2006.

In addition to his interests in carotid artery surgery, lower extremity revascularization and aortic surgery, Dr. Laredo also specializes in venous diseases and was appointed director of the Georgetown Vein Center in Reston, VA. Dr. Laredo is also an attending vascular surgeon at the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Hospital.
